There is a large market space for plant extracts in China.
Plant extract is the carrier of advanced technology of modern plant medicine and the main raw material of plant medicine preparation. Compared with chemical drugs, they have large toxic and side effects and are easy to produce drug resistance. Plant extracts have incomparable natural advantages. At the same time, plant extracts have many characteristics, such as low development investment, high technology content, large added value, wide application in international market, large market development space, etc. At present, natural plant extracts are widely used in medicines, health products and cosmetics. There is a great demand for plant drugs in the world market. The average export unit price of most products has increased to varying degrees in recent years. There are more than 80 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine extracts in China, which can be divided into 3 categories: single traditional Chinese medicine extracts, such as schisandra chinensis, ganoderma lucidum, acanthopanax senticosus, ginkgo biloba and other extracts; Compound traditional Chinese medicine extracts, such as Buzhong Yiqi Recipe extract, etc.; Purified extract, including active site and monomer compound, such as soybean isoflavone, ginsenoside, tea catechin, etc. At present, China's plant extracts are exported to 88 countries and regions, mainly to the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and France, accounting for 66.73%, of which the United States accounts for 23.35%, and the export amount to Hong Kong, China has increased by 640.97% year on year. From January to August 2005, China's export volume of plant extracts was 191 million US dollars, up 34.12% year on year, accounting for 36.52% of the total export volume of traditional Chinese medicine. The rise of the last century is getting hotter now. Plant extracts have only had a history of more than 10 years in our country, but they have only really warmed up in recent years. Zeng Jianguo, general manager of Hunan Jiuhui Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd., said that the development of extracts has gone through three stages of development in China: first, in the late 1980s represented by the export of licorice and ephedra extracts; Second, the export heat of ginkgo biloba, hypericum perforatum and other extracts appeared in the middle and late 1990s. The third is the painful process of relatively standard quality but chaotic price after 2000. At present, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Hunan, Sichuan, Guangxi and other provinces are involved in plant extract pharmacy. The main extracts include gingko, fungi, antibiotic series products, semi-synthetic antibiotics, traditional Chinese medicine extracts, etc. From January to June this year, there were 1085 enterprises engaged in import and export of plant extract products in China, 736 of which were involved in export. There are many problems Export prices fell. In recent years, the export quantity of plant extract products in our country has increased greatly, but the average export price is declining. The average export price of plant extracts in China was US$ 20,130/ton in 1996, US$ 15,570/ton in 1999 and US$ 14,352/ton in 2001. Low level vicious competition. The small concentration of industries, scattered enterprises, generally small scale of operations and weak competitiveness have rushed at the best-selling products, resulting in low-level vicious competition in the market. Especially in the international market, there are basically no outstanding brands of their own. The products of most enterprises are limited to the supply of raw materials and are at the low end of the industrial chain. Low-price competition without quality assurance is likely to confuse the market and destroy the brands of Chinese goods. Brand awareness is low. Due to the low technical content of raw materials, it is difficult to produce brand effect. The rise of plant extracts in China for more than ten years has not yet produced a famous brand in the international market, which has weakened the export potential of our products to a certain extent. Lack of industry standards. At present, the vast majority of plant extracts do not have national standards or industry standards, and most enterprises use the quality clauses in contracts as the basis for product delivery. The testing method of product quality is relatively chaotic, which brings obstacles to production and management. Technical equipment is backward. Plant extracts have higher requirements on production conditions and technology. Advanced extraction, separation, purification and drying equipment and technology applied to the production of plant extracts can greatly improve the progress of pharmaceutical engineering of plant drugs and the quality of extracts. However, these technologies are not universally applied to every extract producing enterprise, and more small enterprises are relatively backward in technology and equipment due to lack of funds, talents and information. Calling for Industry Standards to Cultivate Export Brands According to the information department of the medical insurance chamber of commerce, the export of plant extracts from China has developed rapidly in recent years and is mainly used as raw materials for foreign plant drugs. this kind of plant extracts will be the focus of China's export development in the future. The industrialization of the extract will promote the differentiation of Chinese patent medicine production into two parts: raw material production and preparation production, thus forming the Chinese medicine raw material extract industry. Through professional division of labor, it is conducive to improving the standardization and intensification level of the production and management of traditional Chinese medicine. At the same time, under the situation that the export of Chinese traditional medicine has been stagnant for many years, it is a better way to promote the export of Chinese traditional medicine in the form of brand-new compound Chinese traditional medicine combined with medicinal plant extracts. The industrialization of extracts needs standards as the basis. On February 16 this year, the Ministry of Commerce promulgated the industry standards for five Chinese herbal extracts of Hypericum perforatum, Angelica sinensis, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, Trifolium repens and Valeriana officinalis. At the same time, it also promulgated the revised "Green Industry Standard for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Medicinal Plants and Preparations". These standards provide referential data for promoting the improvement of the product quality of domestic enterprises. At the same time, they will promote enterprises to adopt advanced inspection and testing technologies and methods, control the safety indexes of products such as heavy metal content, pesticide residue and microbial limit, and improve and standardize the quality standard system. However, behind the rapid growth of China's extract exports in successive years, the embarrassment of brand deficiency is also highlighted. How to enhance the brand advantage of our extract products in the fierce international competition has become the top priority of the extract industry. Relevant experts suggest that enterprises should organically combine long-term planning with short-term development, strive to build and cultivate their own brands in the international market with high-quality products, and extend their advantageous products to the end consumer market in due course, so as to enhance the international competitiveness of the whole industry.
